She’s Gone – Now I Understand

Mother’s Day feels different this year.

It’s my first one without my mom, and honestly, I didn’t know what to expect.

Grief has a way of showing up in waves, especially on days that once felt familiar and full of celebration.

Yesterday, I got to visit her gravesite and I just sat in silence – still in disbelief that she’s gone. It is still so raw.

I just kneeled down in disbelief that I was reading her name on a gravestone. And then it hit me…

If your mom is no longer here, you’re not alone today. Some of us are carrying memories, old voicemails, favorite traditions, and love that still feels so present even though they are gone.

And while days like today can ache deeply, they also remind us how blessed we were to have someone worth missing that much.

I miss my mom more than words can explain. But I’m grateful for her love, her strength, her prayers, and the countless ways she shaped my life.

For those of you grieving today, I hope we can hold both sorrow and gratitude together. Love like that never really leaves us.

If Mother’s Day hurts this year, may you know that God sees your grief, stays near to your heart, and holds every tear you cry.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. – Psalms 34:18

I miss you like crazy mamma!
